The Town of Port Royal is located directly on the Beaufort River and provides access to hundreds of miles of beautiful South Carolina coastline and biologically rich coastal waters.  Port Royal Sound lies adjacent to South Carolina’s ACE Basin, one of the largest undeveloped estuaries on the East Coast.  The ACE Basin is part of South Carolina’s National Estuarine Research Reserves and encompasses over 134,000 acres in parts of Beaufort, Colleton, Charleston, and Hampton counties.  From Port Royal boaters can access numerous rivers including the Broad, Beaufort, Coosaw, Ashepoo, Combahee and Edisto, which meander past cypress swamps, historic plantation homes, old rice fields and abundant tidal marshes.  Fishermen come from all over to fish the biologically rich waters of St. Helena and Port Royal sounds.  Port Royal and the surrounding community is truly a boater’s paradise.

Charter/Sport Fishing

If it’s great fishing that you’re looking for, Port Royal is a great access point.  There are numerous charter fishing companies located in Port Royal, and you can find out information about each one below or at our Interactive Map Site under Activities.  With our direct proximity to the water fishermen can enjoy inshore, near shore and offshore fishing trips and charters.  Species that can be caught in our coastal waters can be selected from the drop-down menu below to view a picture of that species.

Port Royal personifies coastal living, and our community truly is, among other things, a boater’s paradise!  We’ll see you on the water…happy boating!
